Canon Selphy ES40

Christmas Tree
Christmas TreeCanon has recently launched Selphy ES40, a portable photo printer, meant to be carried around and print photographs on the fly. It is strictly meant for those looking for ultra-quick photo printing solutions, and if you are somebody in need of a really good photo printer, this may not be the one.

The printer has some unique features such as voice guidance system, which is similar to any device such as your mobile phone following one's voice commands. This is the first of a kind, and is a refreshing change that we can see, after observing repeated features over a period of time.

The printer leverages on dye-sublimation thermal transfer printing system and offers a best resolution of 300 X 600 dpi. The maximum colour depth that can be obtained from this printer is 24 bit.

Print speed for a 4" X 6" postcard sized print is 55 seconds, as per the claims. L size prints take 47 seconds while the credit card sized prints take 33 seconds to print. These are not bad at all considering the size of the printer and the mobility it has to offer.

A 3.5" LCD screen is provided in the front part of the printer with an auto-scroll wheel being leveraged to navigate the menu and to scroll through the images for sans PC operation. The Canon Selphy ES40 is PictBridge compliant and offers to read a host of memory cards. A USB drive is provided and an option for Bluetooth. The printer is priced at £179.
